Student Pass (STP)


The Student Pass is a mandatory document for international students pursuing full-time studies in Singapore. It grants you legal permission to stay in the country for the duration of your course. It’s highly encouraged that all students can follow the checklist by Singapore’s Immigration here in applying for STP once their approval letter has arrived: Apply STP

  • Apply within two 2 months before course begins
  • Processing time is typically within 1 week
  • If Visa is required, within 2 weeks (excluding the date of submission)
  • Please note there may be delays. Prepare the original documents you need to collect your STP in Singapore (As per application of STP). Have your In-Principle Approval (IPA) printed and ready on hand for your flight!

Preparing for Departure

  • Ensure your passport has at least six 6 months of validity.
  • Check that you fulfil the Entry Requirements to enter Singapore.
  • Book your flight in advance to save on last minute price surges!
  • Book your accommodation – Find a fully furnished apartment here

 

Pack your luggage!

  • Documents – Please bring copies of your personal documentation. Important documents include your passport, letter of offer from the University, academic transcripts from previous study, important contact numbers, and medical records.
  • Medication – Please note that if you require prescription medication in Singapore, you should also obtain a doctor’s note in English detailing your medical history and any prescriptions needed.
  • Clothing – Singapore has a tropical climate; Summer all year round! Please pack casual summer outfits and cotton fabric clothes, though lessons in school will be held in air-conditioned spaces.
  • Singapore uses 220-240 volts plugs. Three square pronged power plugs are used. Be sure to bring along an adapter if required!


Transportation tips

  • Singapore’s MRT has six lines with over 130 stations, spanning about 200km across the island and an extensive bus network.
  • Apps to navigate around SG: MyTransport.SG/Citymapper
  • Download MRT System Maps: English(Pdf)
  • To use public transport: Purchase an EZlink card – It acts as a prepaid card so don’t forget to re-load it!
